“Beyond Zero: 1914–1918” is a project by Serbian-American composer Aleksandra Vrebalov and American director Bill Morrison, created in 2014 – a universal artistic reflection that transcends time. The project combines film and music: Morrison edited a moving film from archival footage of the First World War, and Vrebalov created a piece for string quartet for the occasion. In the composition, the composer interweaves important musical elements from that period with a clear message: “Never again war!” The live music will be performed by the renowned Austrian string quartet Acies Quartett. “Beyond Zero: 1914–1918” is part of the project “Art against the Gun”, produced by the Mink Tolmin Association, and is the official program of the European Capital of Culture GO! 2025 Nova Gorica – Gorica. The lighting design of the unique venue will be designed by Incredible Bob, while the experienced team of Kinoatelje will handle the technical implementation of the screening. The event is organized in collaboration with the Interreg Italy – Slovenia BeWoP project and Sounds of Peace.
