The author of the film, Matija Jerman, was a railway designer for 20 years, as well as a lover of photography and documentary film. After retiring on disability, his love of work was replaced by making documentary films. The best of them is the film Leptica pod gorami - SUB ITA. The film will be shown on August 26 at 8:30 PM at the foot of the bridge over the Soča River – which is the largest stone arch bridge in the world. In case of bad weather, the event will be postponed to the next day.

There are few countries in the world that have such a picturesque railway line as ours between Jesenice and Sežana. It descends from the Alpine world towards the sea. Even Lonely Planet, a guide for young people, had to describe how beautiful it is. It was basically a second connection to Trieste. It came to us from neighboring Austria, pierced the Karavanke Mountains with the Karavanke Tunnel, approached Jesenice and from there ran over the Sava Dolinka and Radovna rivers. It runs in the hinterland of Bled and heads towards the Sava Bohinjka. It crosses the Bohinj Mountains with a tunnel over 6336 meters long, the longest in Slovenia. It then runs through the Baška grapa, crosses the Idrijca and then the Soča River. Before Solkan it crosses the Soča once more, with the longest arched stone bridge in the world. It runs along the state border with Italy. Through the lowlands of the Vipava Valley, it approaches the Karst, climbs up to it and runs through it. Before the Second World War, it then descended to Trieste, but today it only runs as far as Sežana. The route runs through the most beautiful parts of our country. The mystery of the tunnels, the wildness of the rivers and the beauty of the surroundings are shown in the documentary film Beauty under the Mountains. A museum train also ran along the route until 2017. One of its last runs is also filmed in the film. The travelling Kino Soča - Isonzo Cinema, which runs from 2024, is setting up annual cinemas in picturesque locations along the border, in cooperation with key partners from the region. The event is part of the Go Green Cinema project, which addresses the wider cross-border public, local residents, random foreign visitors and participants within the official programme of the European Capital of Culture GO! 2025. It is being created with the support of the European Union from the GO! 2025 Small Projects Fund of the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia programme 2021-2027, managed by the EGTC GO. www.ita-slo.eu & www.euro-go.eu/spf
