A project by Carmela De Falco.
As Far as It Can Reach is a project that addresses the question of collective memory and the relationship with the Other from oneself starting from the concept of borders. Once a symbol of the political-ideological separation between Western and Eastern Europe, today, the wall is an emblem of the fall of borders.
The project consists of a collective performance in which the inhabitants of Gorizia and Nova Gorica will be invited to take part, and a video documentation of the action. Positioned at different points of the Transalpina square, the inhabitants of the two cities will be given a small mirror, through which they will create a small reflection, produced by the incidence of sunlight on the mirror support. This reflection will move towards the other side of the square, starting from the point where the separation wall was built. As in a play of reflections and cross-references, the light will reach the other side of the boundary, becoming a projection and extension of the body of each inhabitant.
