A delegation of the European Parliament’s Committee on Culture and Education visited Nova Gorica and Gorizia, the joint hosts of the European Capital of Culture GO! 2025.
From 27 to 29 October 2025, a delegation from the European Parliament’s Committee on Culture and Education (CULT) visited Nova Gorica and Gorizia – the first cross-border European Capital of Culture in history.
The Members of the European Parliament explored the EPICenter, learning about the origins of the joint candidacy and current GO! 2025 projects. They also met artists and representatives of local and national authorities from both countries, visited the Kinoatelje – Gorizia film institute, and discovered Rafut Park, a symbol of the region’s shared heritage and future.
The head of the delegation, Hannes Heide (S&D, AT), highlighted that GO! 2025 demonstrates “how culture can transcend borders and turn shared history into shared progress.”
