“It is true in Slovenia that what at first sight seem to be incompatible, comes together very well. Let's pack all the opposites into one day!”
The Slovenian Tourist Board (STB) has identified art and culture as the main theme of communication for 2024 and 2025, and has pointed out the European Capital of Culture 2025 Nova Gorica-Gorizia as an example of cross-border cooperation and an opportunity to establish Slovenia as an attractive cultural destination. This is a cooperation definitely bringing benefit the Capital of Culture region, as the STB is the national organisation planning and implementing the marketing of Slovenia's comprehensive tourism offer, and takes care of tourism development. Now you can also find a presentation of GO! 2025 on the main portal presenting Slovenia to foreign tourists! 2025, in six languages.
As part of the Alpe Adria accompanying programme, the STB representatives stressed the importance of cooperation between culture and tourism, and presented a document of guidelines to support the marketing of this theme. The presentation was also attended by the ECOC GO! 2025 marketing manager Andreja Repič Agrež, who explained what the preparations for this megalomaniac project bring – a project returning to Slovenia after 13 years.
“It is true in Slovenia that what at first sight seem to be incompatible, comes together very well. Let's pack all the opposites into one day!” Repič Agrež summed up for all the people present what the essence of our European Capital of Culture is. “The very location of the European Capital of Culture is full of contradictions. We are the first cross-border ECOC where two cities, two countries work closely together. We are confronting two languages, two bureaucracies, two different cultures... and yet we co-exist successfully.”
