Alpe Adria Puppet Festival in Gorizia

International festival of puppet and figure theatre between Gorizia and Nova Gorica, October 3-8: innovation, technology, music, dance, and visual arts.

The Alpe Adria Puppet Festival – set in the cross-border territory of Gorizia and Nova Gorica as the European Capital of Culture 2025 – explores new perspectives in figure theatre as a medium of dialogue and connection. Since its first edition, the festival has worked to overcome borders through performances highlighting the communicative power of figure theatre. This year’s programme focuses on two main themes: the environment and social sustainability, and gender issues, with productions addressing women’s rights, life with illness, and resilience through art and music.

Three European projects stand out, including Art&Puppets, supported by the EU’s Interreg Italy-Slovenia programme, bringing to Gorizia six international and Italian performances. Highlights include CTA’s productions Lidia Poët and Atalanta. Partitura a tre voci, the international project Edith & Me, the German company Florschütz & Dohnert’s Electric Shadows, Sardinia’s Signora Rossetta, and the grand finale Hakanaï by Adrien M. & Claire B., blending digital art and dance.

The festival is supported by the Italian Ministry of Culture, the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region – Promoturismo, and the municipalities of Gorizia and Nova Gorica, with Art&Puppets funded by the EU’s Small Project Fund GO! 2025, managed by EGTC GO.
