The permanent exhibition In Leonardo / Ipava reveals Leonardo da Vinci’s connections to the Vipava Valley and the Gorizia region, showcasing reproductions of his drawings, maps and technical studies.
The exhibition In Leonardo / Ipava, hosted at the Lanthieri Mansion and wine cellar in Vipava, presents a lesser-known chapter of Leonardo da Vinci’s life – his detailed study of the Gorizia region, the Soča valley and the Vipava River in the early 1500s. Visitors can view selected reproductions of sketches, maps, notes and engineering concepts from the Codex Atlanticus and the Royal Collection in Windsor, including depictions of rivers, flood-control solutions, movable bridges and other technical innovations.
The exhibition also highlights the international network Le Vie di Leonardo da Vinci, of which the Municipality of Vipava is a member, certified as a Cultural Route of the Council of Europe. Located inside the Lanthierijev hram wine cellar, the exhibition can be complemented by wine tastings featuring over 300 wines from the Vipava Valley.
