GO! 2025 at Ravello Lab 2025 – on the role of culture in urban development

GO! 2025 took part for the first time in the international Ravello Lab, where experts discussed the impact of culture on the development of cities.

Last weekend, under the patronage of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Mr. Alain Berset, the 20th edition of the international expert meeting Ravello Lab 2025 took place in Italy, bringing together key stakeholders in cultural development and policy.

For the first time, the European Capital of Culture Nova Gorica – Gorizia (GO! 2025) took part, invited to share good practices on the importance of culture in city development – on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the European Capitals of Culture initiative and the 10th anniversary of the Italian Capitals of Culture.

Among the speakers was Ms. Mija Lorbek, MA, Director of GO! 2025, who took part in a discussion on the impact of Italian Capitals of Culture on local development and cultural participation. Together with city representatives and experts in cultural management, tourism, and heritage, she discussed knowledge transfer from European Capitals of Culture and opportunities for future collaboration.

The results of the meeting will be presented in a professional publication early next year, traditionally unveiled in one of the Italian Capitals of Culture.
As GO! 2025 is the first cross-border European Capital of Culture uniting Slovenia and Italy and bringing strong positive effects on local development, discussions are also underway to host the next, special edition of Ravello Lab on the border – in Nova Gorica.
