The European Capital of Culture shines into 2026

We are entering the final month of the European Capital of Culture, but that doesn’t mean the Capital is leaving us. Today, 26 November, at 17.00, we are holding the official opening of City on the Border, the permanent exhibition that completes the EPICenter puzzle, which is now formally opening its doors. You are warmly invited to explore the exhibition, the gallery, the café, and the events! Just two days later, on Friday, 28 November, philosopher Slavoj Žižek will arrive at the EPICenter: his lecture will also be streamed live – you can find more details here.

In December, we highlight Borderless Lights, the final series of events within the Stop the City! moments. On 29 November, Nova Gorica and Gorizia will simultaneously switch on their festive lights in Europe Square; even the St Andrew’s Fair will shine under the spotlight of the European Capital of Culture. If we began the ECoC year on 8 February, the Slovenian Cultural Holiday, we will now symbolically round it off on 3 December, a date likewise linked to Slovenia’s greatest poet, France Prešeren: on The Merry Day of Culture, numerous projects from the official programme will be presented, and the EPICenter will be the hub of activities throughout the day.

We invite you to enjoy the vibrant programme even in this final month of the first cross-border European Capital of Culture 2025 Nova Gorica – Gorizia!

You can access our latest monthly newsletter, published on 26 November, here.
