Heritage of Routes, Networks and Connections
European Heritage Days with more than 400 events this year
This year's European Cultural Heritage Days have begun with an opening ceremony at the Franciscan Monastery in Kostanjevica above Novo Gorica. This year, the main theme of the event is "Heritage of Routes, Networks and Connections". With more than 400 events on 150 locations across Slovenia, Italy and Hungary, the event promises a varied cultural programme, as well as a celebration of the 70th anniversary of the European Cultural Convention and the 75th anniversary of the Council of Europe. Under the auspices of the Slovenian Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage (ZVKDS) and in cooperation with local organisations and individuals, the celebrations and events will run until 12 October. The opening at Kostanjevica above Nova Gorica heralds the Franciscan Monastery's deep involvement in next year's European Capital of Culture programme.
