Gotropolis 2025

Gotropolis is a creative city and an international festival that tests the borders of theatre and connects it to other artistic genres.

The Creative City of Gotropolis has been traveling throughout the years and every year, it revives different parts of the Nova Gorica and Gorizia conurbation. Gotropolis offers an experience of independent theatre with a diverse accompanying program that includes projects by local artists, street theatre, events, workshops, exhibitions and other activities. It is intended for a wide range of audiences of all generations.

FLIGHT (6–14 September 2025)

To climb towards the sky means to risk losing the solid ground under our feet, go into the unknown and look at the world from a new perspective. We need strong wings to take off, so we must trust ourselves and believe in our strength to be able to fly. Nova Gorica is associated with the flight of the Rusjan brothers, while the mythological flight of Daedalus and Icarus teaches the wisdom of the middle path...

This year, we will explore the space between art and life—between theater and nature, body and word, the individual and the community. The central part of Gotropolis is two award-winning performances of independent production that bring new insights and perspectives. In addition, the programme will be shaped by a workshop of luminous animals, a mythological climb to Sveta Gora, a sound bath at the full moon and eclipse, dancing through the streets of Nova Gorica, cross-border performances for the youngest, exploring relationships through a sociodrama workshop, and a rich interactive programme with a storytelling variety show in the classroom of the Borov gozdiček.

All of these events are the spirit of this year's Gotropolis: the courage to move, to be creative, and to cross borders. Gotropolis is not just a space, but a state we want to conjure up in the conurbation—open, exploratory, inclusive.
