EARTH GAZES BACK II

The More-than-Planet project brings together art, science, and participatory practices and promotes the development of environmental literacy.

The exhibition, held in the spaces of the former salt warehouse by the sea and curated by Marko Peljhan—an internationally renowned artist, researcher, scientist, and professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara (USA), who hails from the coastal region—takes on an additional symbolic dimension in Portorož. The Monfort Gallery, as a space of materiality, history, and transition, becomes the setting for a reflection on the planet as a material, political, and sensory reality.

The exhibition will be attended by the artists, who are currently arriving in Portorož from across Europe, and the exhibition curators. For more information, visit: THE EARTH RETURNS THE GAZE II – Piran Coastal Galleries

At the same time, the exhibition builds an important cultural bridge between European spaces, as it is linked to the ISOLABS project (European Capital of Culture 2025 Nova Gorica - Gorizia) and the European Capital of Culture Oulu 2026 project in Finland, and is produced in collaboration with the Piran Coastal Galleries and with the support of the Municipality of Piran.

This is a project with a strong environmental focus, presented at major European cultural venues. The opening will take place on Thursday, April 2, at 7:00 p.m.
