Okusi Vipavske: Wine and Gastronomy Festival

During the 'Month of Local Cuisine', restaurants, trattorias, and agriturismos in the Vipava Valley offer flavors, local products, and typical specialties of the region.

Taking place in mid-May, when the darling buds of May are in full bloom, the Festival Okusi Vipavske (Flavours of the Vipava Valley Festival), set right at the heart of the Valley, pays homage to the locally grown and produced wine and food. This traditional event draws the finest winemakers, fruit and vegetable growers, and creators of unique flavours which are thought to be the most representative of the Vipava Valley.

Over the course of the two-day festival, visitors will have the opportunity to sample more than 100 wines from Vipava winemakers, showcasing the diversity of the Vipava Valley’s wines. Among them are wines made from distinctive grape varieties such as Zelen and Pinela, alongside numerous other white and red wines. The festival program will be complemented by local cuisine and the Vipava Market, where local producers will showcase cheeses, meats, bread, honey, olive oils, jams, and other homemade products.

A special focus of this year’s event will be on the younger generations’ relationship with wine. On Friday, a professional masterclass on this topic will take place, addressing the trends, habits, and expectations of younger consumers. The program will be complemented by a roundtable discussion featuring young winemakers from the Vipava Valley and neighboring regions. The festival will also feature the workshop “The Elegance of Success” with Lorella Flego, as well as professional workshops on wine and food pairing. Following the festival events on Saturday at 9:00 PM, an acoustic concert by Hamo & Pero will take place in the atrium of Lanthieri Manor.
