The concert features a program of sacred music starring the GO! Borderless Choir and the GO! Borderless Orchestra, in the year that marks the bicentenary of the death of Antonio Salieri, who most people have come to know mainly thanks to the film Amadeus by Milos Forman, even though his real relationship with Mozart has never been historically proven. Here too, the vagueness of the clues somehow brings them together in the choice of Salieri's Krönungs-Te Deum, composed in 1790 for the coronation of Emperor Leopold II, son of Empress Maria Theresa of Austria and successor to his brother Joseph II, and Mozart's Krönungsmesse – or Coronation Mass – the writing of which, according to some, could refer to the same event. In fact, the occasion that determined the creation of this score is not very clear, even if most of Mozart's biographers agree that the title refers to the traditional celebrations for the anniversary of the Coronation, which took place by order of the Pope in 1751, of a miraculous image of the Virgin venerated in the sanctuary of Maria Plain near Salzburg. However, the third musical page in the program also revolves around the house of Habsburg, namely Symphony No. 48 “Maria Theresia” by FJ Haydn, whose title seems to refer to a visit by the Empress Maria Theresa to the Esterházy Castle, where the composer was Kapellmeister.
