Art, Movement, and Identity at the Gonjače Roundabout during the Giro d’Italia.

“Every Friday Disco!” is a piece of graffiti that, despite repeated cleanings, persistently reappears on the wall of the Gonjače roundabout. A simple and direct phrase that has, over time, gained symbolic value—a spontaneous echo of a period marked by a desire for freedom, gathering, and movement.

On the special occasion of the Giro d’Italia passing through the Goriška Brda and by this very roundabout, the Dablo Association has transformed the space into a unique painting installation.

Each artist interpreted the theme of dynamics in their own way, creating visual paths that resonate with the speed, effort, and continuous motion of the cycling race. The theoretical and poetic foundation of the project lies in Italian Futurism, with its passion for speed, energy, and modernity in motion.

The works are arranged in a sequence that creates an optical effect of rotation and continuity, as if observing the race through the perspective of motion.

The unifying color element is pink, a direct allusion to the iconic Maglia Rosa of the Giro—color that permeates the artworks as a visual highlight and identity marker, symbolizing victory, perseverance, and distinction. Despite the variety of artistic languages, all the works stem from a common starting point: the concept of movement—not only physical, but also symbolic, social, and profoundly existential.

The installation will be on display during the Giro d’Italia as a testament to how art, space, and the present moment can merge into a unified, collective expression.
