Today marks the beginning of Kinoatelje's open-air cinema summer. The season of socialising while enjoying films under the stars traditionally opens with the Sant’Andrea open-air cinema, which invites you to a film screening today and tomorrow, 15 and 16 June, at 9 pm. For the sixth year in a row, Kinoatelje, together with the Oton Župančič Society, is organising two evenings at the Andrej Budal Cultural Centre dedicated to Slovenian cinema. The films Orkester (2021) by Matevž Luzar and Stories from the Chestnut Woods (2019) by Gregor Božič will be shown. The first screening will be introduced by the Kras Wind Orchestra, the second by short films made during the Kinoatelje workshops at primary schools in Savogna d’Isonzo, Piuma and Bilje. More film experiences are planned until the second half of August, organised by Kinoatelje on both the Slovenian and Italian sides. Two film evenings will be held at the Belvedere Cinema in San Pietro al Natisone, and let's not forget the screening at the Europe Square; this will be followed by the better known Silvan Furlan open-air cinema in Nova Gorica, a screen will also be set up at the Grgar open-air cinema, and the open-air film summer will end with a screening as part of the Cinema in the Forest initiative. Due to its cross-border character, Kinoatelje is also closely connected to the European Capital of Culture mission - as part of the programme GO! 2025, it runs the projects Cinema Hub, which aims to develop an open, sophisticated and innovative cross-border audiovisual sector, and EAST-WEST The Border in Cinema and History, which reflects on film production through research and studies, expert meetings, symposiums, film retrospectives, etc. In July, the International Best Film Screenplay Award "Sergio Amidei" will also provide film coverage, organising film events and screenings in various locations around Gorizia.
