Literary Bridges PONT at ECOC 2025

An event highlighting Euro-Mediterranean literature, intercultural dialogue, and PONT award laureates, featuring readings, author conversations, and a public lecture by Stefan Hertmans.

The shared mission of the Euro-Mediterranean PONT Literary Award and GO! 2025 European Capital of Culture is to promote intercultural dialogue, literature of the borderlands, and connections between diverse cultures, identities, and languages.

PROGRAMME:

19 November 2025, 11:00, EPIC Café, Nova Gorica
– Presentation of the PONT Literary Award laureates: Stefan Hertmans, Mohamad Abdul Munem, Vasja Bratina, and Elisa Biagini
– Announcement of the PONT certificate recipients for 2026
– Opening remarks: Dr. Stojan Pelko, Aleš Šteger, Dr. Vesna Mikolič
– Presentation of the award and laureates (Dr. Vesna Mikolič)
– Literary readings and conversation with the authors
– Interpretation of translations: Blaž Valič (Slovenian National Theatre Nova Gorica)
– Interpretation into Slovenian and Italian

– Opening address by Mia Lorbek, Director of the public institute GO! 2025
– Public lecture by Stefan Hertmans: Why Antigone
– Lecture dedicated to his new essay Why Antigone
– Lecture in English with interpretation into Slovenian
