Based on an idea by Alessandro Baricco: The Silent Storm

On Monday, 17 November 2025 at 19:30 at EPICenter in Nova Gorica, The Silent Storm will offer a unique literary experience conceived by Alessandro Baricco, where 120 readers will immerse themselves in a deep, collective, silent reading of Dostoevsky’s White Nights, accompanied by a curated musical backdrop by Roberto Tarasco, creating a community that reads alone – but is not alone.
On Monday, 17 November 2025, at 19:30, a special event will take place at EPICenter – one that goes beyond the usual literary evening. The Silent Storm is a collective reading charged with intimacy and presence: 120 people, each with their own copy of Dostoevsky’s White Nights (in either Slovenian or Italian), reading in silence, together in the same space, accompanied by carefully selected music by Roberto Tarasco. A silence that is not empty, but filled with thought, feeling, and shared awareness.
The experience lasts for one hour and forty-five minutes, during which participants are free to move through the space, find their spot, read, underline passages, and make notes. At the end, a symbolic moment: a collective round of applause, transforming silence into sound, into a gesture of connection. Those who wish can exchange their copy of the book with another participant – taking home someone else’s thoughts and reflections. The event concludes with an open conversation, where silence gives way to words, ideas, and impressions.
Admission is free, but registration is required by Wednesday, 29 October, at: prenotazioni@associazioneprogettomusica.org.
