Partners: GECT GO as part of GO! 2025 and FLYE, APT Gorizia
These questions gave rise to ArtBus, a project conceived by young people from Gorizia and Nova Gorica involved in the youth participation program organized by GECT GO in collaboration with Zavod GO! 2025 as part of the European Capital of Culture GO! 2025, made possible thanks to the FLYE project, in which the group participated.
The idea is simple: use the screens on buses to bring video art and images of contemporary cultural production directly into everyday spaces. Art thus leaves the traditionally cultural spaces (museums, galleries, etc.) and enters public transport, meeting citizens on their journeys.
An idea born from the participation of young people
ArtBus is the result of a broader process of engaging and activating younger generations, developed by GECT GO thanks to the Erasmus+ FLYE project, of which GECT GO is a partner. In line with the objectives of the EU Youth Strategy 2019–2027, the project identifies personal empowerment and active participation as two key tools for promoting social change, focusing in particular on developing financial literacy and participatory budgeting skills. It is precisely through this process that an idea proposed by young people was able to transform into a concrete project, using participatory budgeting methods!
The group thus generated several ideas for cultural and social activities and initiatives with direct impact on the cross-border area. The proposals were developed in the form of pitches and, in March 2026, presented to young people for a vote. This initial selection was followed by a feasibility study. Two proposals passed both selection phases: ArtBus and Playground's Benches.
Joined by artists from the cross-border area, designers, and cultural workers, the young people worked on selecting images and content related to the activities carried out during 2025, crafting a visual narrative that captured some of the perspectives that characterized the year of the European Capital of Culture.

ODEC – One Dance European City

One city, two territories, a single space to be traversed through the body and dance.
The video tells the story of ODEC – One Dance European City, a cross-border experience that takes dance out of its traditional spaces and connects it with Gorizia and Nova Gorica.
Performances, testimonies, and journeys paint a portrait of a project in which movement becomes a tool for exploring places, architecture, and identities, simultaneously highlighting differences and connections between the two cities.
Dance enters urban environments and invites viewers to perceive them differently: no longer simply as settings, but as lived spaces, transformed by the presence of bodies and the relationships that are built there.
Why is it on board? Because it tells the story of a transborder city through movement: as the dance traverses spaces, places, and borders, the viewer also traverses them aboard the bus.

The landscape as a place to observe. An invitation to slow down.
The video traverses Gorizia's Borgo Castello and the surrounding landscape at a slow, contemplative pace. Architecture, nature, details, and perspectives alternate to narrate one of the iconic locations of the European Capital of Culture, conveying its historical dimension as well as its everyday, silent side.
Rather than describing a monument, the video constructs a visual experience: it observes the territory up close, capturing its light, materials, transformations, and the ongoing dialogue between city, hill, and border.
Why is he on board? Because this video transforms the daily commute into an opportunity to see the area from a different perspective.

Closer from afar. How much do we really know about a place we pass through every day?
The video documents a participatory performance in the urban space of Gorizia/Nova Gorica. The audience, equipped with headphones, is led on a journey of actions, directions, words, and encounters: what normally constitutes the backdrop of the city becomes material to be observed, listened to, and interpreted.
The performance temporarily alters the relationship between people and public space. Streets, passageways, walls, signage, and everyday presences take on a new clarity, while participants are invited to follow the path and, at the same time, question what they see.
Why is he on board? Because the bus is also a device through which we observe the city as we travel through it.

A walk through cinema, memory and the city
Following the trail of a story also means learning to see the places where it happened differently.
The video documents a walk dedicated to Nora Gregor, leading the audience through Gorizia, intertwining storytelling, cinematic images, and city locations. Photographs, film-related materials, and narrative moments accompany the journey, bringing to light in the urban space the traces of a cultural history that is intrinsic to the area.
The contemporary city is thus placed in relation to other images and other times: cinema becomes a tool through which to recover memory and recognize, behind apparently everyday places, stories that would otherwise risk remaining invisible.
Why is he on board? Because even a bus ride is a way of traversing the city. The video invites travelers to imagine that behind the streets, buildings, and places seen from the window lie stories waiting to be rediscovered.
GO! 2025 – A Year Without Borders

Events, encounters, people, and places: a visual narrative of a region that met across the border in 2025.
The video collects some of the moments and events that marked the year of GO! 2025, from the Opening Ceremony to the Borderless Friendship March, from the èStoria Festival to the Borderless Beer Fest and Gusti di Frontiera, up to the meetings between cross-border cities and the story of GO! 2025 through its numbers.
The project is financed by the European Union through the GO! 2025 Small Project Fund of the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia 2021-2027 Programme, managed by the EGTC GO.
What emerges is a mosaic of public spaces, urban spaces, events, and opportunities for encounter: diverse images united by a cross-border dimension and the desire to build relationships between Gorizia and Nova Gorica and, more broadly, between communities and territories.
Why is it on board? Because the bus is one of the places where the territory becomes a tangible journey, a connection, and a journey through time. Bringing this story on board means giving travelers some images of the European Capital of Culture year and remembering that GO! 2025 wasn't just a calendar of events, but a collective experience built through places, people, and relationships.
