When:
International Tiramisu Day - March 21
But did you know that March 21st is International Tiramisu Day?
The first version of tiramisu, the Tirime su - Coppa Vetturino™, documented since 1935, was created by Mario Cosolo, who, while enlisted in the Royal Navy's kitchen brigade, was aboard the royal yacht "Savoia." Called to participate in a pastry-making competition for King Vittorio Emanuele III, his recipe stood out and won the competition. A truly ROYAL SWEET!
On Saturday, March 21st, anyone who chooses to have lunch at one of the restaurants participating in the "Il gusto dei saperi" project will be able to taste the dessert at the special price of €6.50.
Participating in the initiative are: Locanda Devetak 1870 of San Michele del Carso the Da Nando trattoria of Mortegliano Al Granaio of Fiumicello Villa Vicentina La Chincaglieria of Gorizia Rosen Bar of Gorizia Trattoria Barbablù of Ronchi dei Legionari Ai 9 Girasoli of Monfalcone Original Joe's of Monfalcone Osteria Casa di Pepe and Casa di Pepe pizza and cuisine of Trieste Al Giardino segreto of Fogliano Redipuglia The flavor of the Bisiaca tradition returns to the table on the occasion of Tiramisù Day.
On Saturday, March 21, eleven restaurants in Friuli Venezia Giulia will offer the opportunity to taste "Tirime su," the historic recipe created in 1935 by Mario Cosolo and recognized in 2017 by the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies as one of the two original variations of tiramisu in the region.
Thanks to historical documentation collected over the years, the historical connection between the Isonzo variant and the origins of the dessert has also been recognized, which will be offered as a dessert on the various menus of the restaurants participating in the initiative.
"Coming to taste it means getting closer to the culture and identity of our region, but it can also be an opportunity to discover the historical, artistic, and naturalistic beauties that distinguish it." Davide Iannis, president of the Monfalconese Cultural Consortium. We look forward to seeing you!
