Cantina Bulfon Tfvg 23827
The Bulfon winery in Valeriano, Pordenone, is renowned for its dedication to rediscovering some of Friuli’s ancient indigenous grape varieties, which have been cultivated for centuries in the foothills of Western Friuli, across the hills of Castelnovo del Friuli, Pinzano al Tagliamento and surrounding areas.
Emilio Bulfon’s passion, supported by his wife Noemi and children Alberta and Lorenzo, has brought these grape varieties back to life. With the scientific assistance of major research centres and institutions, not only were these varieties identified, studied, selected and replanted, but they were also successfully added to the National Catalogue of Italian Grape Varieties in 1992. Following a lengthy bureaucratic process, they finally achieved the designation of the Italian equivalent of ‘Protected Geographical Indication’: Indicazione Geografica Protetta (IGP).
In recognition of this outstanding work, Emilio Bulfon was honoured at Vinitaly in 2010 by the Italian Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies with the prestigious Cangrande Award as: ‘A Meritorious Contributor to Italian Viticulture for making a decisive contribution to the development of viticulture and the enhancement of Italian oenology.’
Located near the Tagliamento River, the estate embraces sustainable agricultural practices within an area rich in biodiversity and home to protected plant and animal species. Alberta and Lorenzo are committed to sharing this rich heritage, encompassing not just the breathtaking scenery, but also the cultural, historical and artistic assets of the area.
Wine tourists are warmly invited to visit the vineyards and the winery, as well as to sample the indigenous wines, which are the pure result of passion and dedication to work in the vineyard.
