IN4SAFETY: Together for safety beyond borders

IN4SAFETY: Together for safety beyond borders

The International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction reminded us yesterday how essential it is to act together to protect and prepare communities. The summer experience of GOin4SAFETY demonstrates that collaborating beyond borders is not only possible but indispensable.

Yesterday, October 13, 2025, the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction was observed, drawing attention to the importance of preparedness and joint action in the face of natural disasters and other emergencies. On this occasion, numerous organizations and communities reaffirmed how essential it is to collaborate—both within individual countries and across borders.

A concrete example of this collaboration was experienced during the summer by participants in the international GOin4SAFETY project, in which Italian and Slovenian teams conducted joint civil protection and rescue exercises. The spirit of trust, coordination, and teamwork came alive again in the memories of those shared moments.

The project, which strengthens cross-border preparedness and safety, will conclude with the grand final event IN4SAFETY, scheduled for October 17 and 18 in Gorizia and Nova Gorica. For two days, the two cities will become the beating heart of cross-border cooperation in the fields of protection, rescue, and safety.
