Last weekend, the awards ceremony of the 28th Slovenian Film Festival took place in Portorož, which in less than a week showcased this year’s achievements of Slovenian filmmakers and hosted numerous professional events and evening gatherings.

Among the awardees, the following projects stood out: the festival’s winning feature film is Kaj ti je deklica, directed by Urška Djukić, which received five Vesnas: Best Feature Film, Best Leading Actress (Jara Sofija Ostan), Best Supporting Actress (Mina Švajger), Best Supporting Actor (Saša Tabaković), and Best Sound (Julij Zornik). We were also involved in the promotional activities for this project.

The film OHO, directed by Damjan Kozolet, received a special recognition for achievements in cinematic art due to its originality, ambition, and courage within the fictional world. The film is notable for its in-depth exploration of themes often marginalized in Slovenian cinema and its skillful combination of visual style with realistic storytelling. We also contributed to the promotional efforts for this project.

Gregor Božič received the Vesna for Best Cinematography for the film Fiume o morte!, which was part of the festival’s official competitive program. His work was particularly praised for its strong visual impact, carefully considered compositions, and the atmosphere he creates on screen. Božič is known for enhancing the visibility and recognition of Slovenian cinema both nationally and internationally.

Anja Medved participated in the official program of the festival with the film Ne pozabi me. The film was screened on October 23, 2025, at 21:00 and is part of the official program of the European Capital of Culture 2025 Nova Gorica – Gorizia. It is a documentary that delves into the role of memory, personal stories, and historical contexts, subtly connecting the past with the present. Anja’s approach was critically well-received, highlighting her ability to present personal stories in a universal and emotionally compelling way.

Festival venues offered a rich program last week, allowing visitors to explore this year’s achievements in Slovenian cinema while providing a space for networking and exchange of ideas. The organizers thank everyone who contributed to the festival’s success and already announce the 29th edition of the event next year.
