When:
San Rocco Sagra

The centuries-old festival of San Rocco has reached its 525th edition.
The August festival will begin on Friday, August 8th at 7:00 PM with the traditional inauguration. The "Santa Gorizia" dancers and the Ronchi dei Legionari Philharmonic Band will perform Austro-Hungarian dances and marches. As in ancient times, a carriage carrying ladies and girls in traditional "Tabin" dress will travel through the town streets to inform residents of the impending start of the festival.
A toast of good luck, in the presence of the Mayor and city officials, will precede the official opening of the kiosks and the charity raffle.
During the days, the "Center for Traditions" also organized some very important cultural events, with three conferences called "meetings under the tree":
- August 11th at 6 pm , first meeting under the tree: Antonella Gallarotti and Benedetto Kosic will talk with Patrizia Artico about the new book 111 places to discover in Gorizia;
- August 12th at 6 pm , second meeting under the tree: Marco Plesnicar and Ivan Portelli will discuss the refugees in Wagna during the Great War;
- August 14th at 6 pm , third meeting under the tree: Roberto Zottar will propose a meeting dedicated to "Gorizia European Capital of Cuisine" with a final tasting of Gorizia recipes;
- August 17th at 6 pm , in the Sala Incontro, poetry show in several languages "Suns di peraulis" with the participation of Dransam ensemble, Matej Trattnik, Antonella Gallarotti and Vanni Feresin
On Sunday, August 10th, our bell tower will host the 50th bell ringing competition, "COMPETITION OF THE SCAMPANOTADORS." Starting at 4:00 PM, the bell ringers will play the concert of the bells of San Rocco, with their usual skill and prowess.
We would also like to point out that, at 4 pm on Wednesday 13 August , there will be «MANINE IN PASTA», a cooking workshop for children, in collaboration with the «L'Oca Golosa» pastry shop (reservations required).
On August 16th, the feast day of San Rocco, the grand patronal celebration will traditionally take place. After the solemn sung mass, the 39th "Brick by Brick" Award will be presented, followed by refreshments in the courtyard served by the Center for Traditions.
Ten uninterrupted days of celebration, with three charity tombolas of three thousand euros each [ 11, 14 and 16 August ].
