Kino Basaglia

Basaglia on screen: film, madness, and freedom.

Kino Basaglia

Kino Basaglia is part of the official programme of the European Capital of Culture 2025 Nova Gorica – Gorizia.

Franco Basaglia was a pioneer of psychiatry who, with his work and ideas, transformed the treatment of psychiatric patients. Through his revolution he eliminated the system of isolation and stigmatization suffered by those labelled as “mad”. The inscription “Freedom is therapeutic” on the wall of the former psychiatric hospital in Trieste remains an inspiration for a more humanistic approach.
