Dodecalogy: 1982

Dodecalogy: 1982

The eleventh episode of Tomi Janežič’s epic stage project Dodecalogy will take place.

1982 is the year of fuel coupons, the time of Brecelj (Desant na rt dobre nade) and the band Buldožer (Ako ste slobodni večeras), the year when Katarina II is formed—the band that would later become Ekatarina Velika.

That same year, the Falklands War begins and ends, the Israeli army withdraws from the Sinai Peninsula following a peace agreement, and 750,000 people gather in New York to protest against nuclear weapons. The first CDs appear on the German market, the United Nations celebrates the International Day of Peace for the first time, the Soviet probe Venera 14 lands on Venus, and the legendary ZX Spectrum hits the market. Although the system at the time didn’t allow ordinary citizens to import computer technology, the "rainbow" still found its way—through various channels—into many Slovenian homes.

In the year of the longest lunar eclipse of the 20th century, Nova Gorica feels the tremor from the Savinja Valley earthquake, the home game against Hajduk—one of the biggest clubs in former Yugoslavia—draws nearly 5,000 spectators, and the first alpine expedition from the Primorska region sets out for the Andes.
