The permanent ethnological collection by Pavel Medvešček - Klančar showcases the heritage of our ancestors, who lived in deep connection with nature, embodying ancient wisdom and knowledge that we seek to rediscover today. The preserved objects serve as tangible witnesses to the old religious way of life in remote, impoverished areas with paths or roads, where people lived off the land and the gifts of nature. For fifty years, Pavel Medvešček traversed these secluded, hard-to-reach places, recording the stories of the Posočje region elders who stayed on their land after the war. Through his dedication, he preserved an immense amount of material that has ensured the survival of the old religious faith, later documented in his books. This ethnological collection comprises over 500 objects from the central Soča Valley and Čepovan, Cerkno, Idrija, and Brkini regions. The preserved heritage illustrates that living in harmony with nature is a source of profound knowledge and wisdom while also safeguarding our ethnic identity.
