"Ermanno Brazzini" Philharmonic Band

We are a 300-year old music band composted of 30 players, with a vast repertoire ranging from classical music to rock and cinema soundtracks. We bring our merry music wherever we go!

A concert by a village band is perhaps not a high-sounding enough venue on the billboard of your event… but it is also a form of culture. A local culture, born from the desire to make music and be the soundtrack of the events that mark the life of a small community. After all, what is a band if not the musical version of a bell tower that stands out in the skyline of a town and identifies its history, culture and traditions? It's a diverse multiculturalism that sprouts among neighboring territories, often similar but never the same.

In short, the “Ermanno Brazzini” Philharmonic of Pieve Santo Stefano is the product of the same “multiculturalism” that led to choosing Gorizia and Nova Gorica as the first cross-border European capital of culture.

Another element that culturally characterizes the town of Pieve Santo Stefano is the National Diary Archive, a true monument of memory being acknowledged at a national and international level.

The archives preserve journals, letters and memories that bear witness to the great and small history of Italy, reporting the events of modern age as seen from different perspectives. It is an anthology of life told in the first person, which addresses a transversal audience by dealing with different, sometimes uncomfortable, themes, such as the tragedy of the foibe, reported in many post-war diaries coming from the former provinces of Venezia Giulia.

And this is another historical-cultural connection between Pieve S. Stefano and the territories of GO!2025. Finally, another element that links us to the world of the European Capital of Culture 2025 is the very fact of being a band, since in the cross-border territories that host GO! 2025 there is a long-established tradition of musical bands.
