Guido Guidi. Over Time, 1956-2024

Guido Guidi (Cesena, 1941) is one of the leading international figures who have transformed the way we perceive the landscape. His exploration of the language of images has shaped a visual poetics that investigates the relationship between photography, perception, and time. Guidi’s work delves into the everyday and often fragmented landscapes of the provinces as well as into landmark architecture, with each photograph offering a meditation on the very act of seeing. Active since the 1960s and long a dedicated teacher, he is today regarded as a master of reference for multiple generations of photographers.

The exhibition presents Guido Guidi’s work through his archive in Ronta di Cesena, a home and studio that over the years has become a space of living, research, and exchange with other artists. Here, time unfolds in a circular manner – through discoveries, revisitations, and variations – making the archive a privileged gateway to his poetics. The exhibition also features a film by Alessandro Toscano dedicated to this space and is structured into 34 photographic sequences curated by Guidi himself, spanning his entire career: from the black-and-white experiments of the 1960s and 1970s, to his investigations of the landscape and subsequent commissions, through to his most recent works.
