Borders: From Gauguin to Hopper

The exhibition features over 100 masterpieces from the 19th and 20th centuries by artists such as Monet, Van Gogh, Cézanne, Matisse, and Rothko. A journey conceived by Marco Goldin to explore the concept of boundaries as physical, inner, and symbolic spaces.

Borders: From Gauguin to Hopper is set to be the highlight of the GO! 2025 programme. Taking place at Villa Manin from October 11, 2025, to April 12, 2026, the exhibition will showcase over 100 masterpieces by some of the most celebrated international painters of the 19th and 20th centuries. This extraordinary collection reflects years of research, deep study, and the heartfelt passion for painting of curator Marco Goldin.

Hosted within the expansive, restored halls of Villa Manin’s Esedra di Levante, the exhibition offers an exceptional journey through two centuries of art history. Visitors will encounter prominent figures including Friedrich and Turner, Manet and Monet, Degas and Pissarro. The show also features post-Impressionist artists such as Van Gogh, Cézanne, and Gauguin, alongside others like Munch, Modigliani, Matisse, and Mondrian. The narrative continues through the 20th century with names including Bonnard, Hopper, Bacon, Giacometti, culminating in Rothko and Kiefer. This is a truly unmissable exhibition, exclusive in Friuli Venezia Giulia.
