INAUGURAL WALK "LINE B - LIVING BEYOND BORDER"

A walking path featuring the voices of those who lived the border.

LINE B - Living beyond Border In September 1947, the border that had been approved on February 10th of that year was physically drawn on the ground. It became a white line, wooden posts, and barbed wire. And Gorizia found itself divided: the urban center was assigned to Italy while much of the countryside and province passed to Yugoslavia. The border was an arbitrary line, separating properties and families, dividing fields, courtyards, cemeteries. And people had to choose which side to take, what to give up. Line B is a narrative journey to listen to the voices of those whose lives were forever marked by the definition of the border. An emotional and engaging journey that retraces the events and history of a territory marked by a line drawn in 1947.

A story that reveals the memories of a community, bringing to light stories of separation, but also of resilience and hope. To mark the inaugural event of the "LineB - Living Beyond Border" narrative trail, an inaugural walk along the route will be held on Friday, October 3rd. The walk will begin from Parco Basaglia in Gorizia and continue along the bike path that runs along the border between Italy and Slovenia, reaching Piazza della Transalpina. Along the walk, participants will be equipped with wireless headphones to listen to audio narrations. At each stop along the trail, participants will hear the stories and experience the emotions of those who experienced the drawing of the border.

Length of the route: 3 km

Walking time: approximately 2.5 hours

What to bring: comfortable shoes, water, a rain jacket or umbrella in case of light rain

EVENT PROGRAM:

9:15 a.m.: Meet at Basaglia Park and hand out devices for listening to the audio narrations.

9:30 a.m.: Institutional greetings and project presentation

10.00 am: inaugural walk along the route (duration approximately 2 hours) and listening to audio narrations through the stages of the route

12:30 pm: End of the walk at Piazza della Transalpina and vin d'honneur
