Ubi est spes mea - A journey into the practice and interpretation of medieval chant

Dramsam - Early Music Center organises for Saturday 24 May 2025, at the Sala Settecento of the parish of Sant'Ignazio in Gorizia, an entire day of study dedicated to medieval chant, entitled ‘Ubi est spes mea - Praxis and interpretation of medieval chant’ with Katarina Livljanic (singing teacher at the Schola Cantorum of Basel).

Dramsam - Early Music Center organises for Saturday 24 May 2025, at the Sala Settecento of the parish of Sant'Ignazio in Gorizia, an entire day of study dedicated to medieval chant, entitled ‘Ubi est spes mea - Praxis and interpretation of medieval chant’.

The appointment will be led by one of the most refined and expressive interpreters of medieval music currently present on the international scene, Katarina Livljanic (singing teacher at the Schola Cantorum of Basel) who, during the meeting She will not only present the main themes related to the interpretation of the most representative compositions of medieval music, but will also comment on the projection of concert clips of the Franco-German ensemble “Dialogos” (which she directs), interspersing them with vocal examples illustrating above all the relationship between text and music.

The meeting will take place in two sessions, from 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and from 2.30 p.m. to 5 p.m., and will offer the audience a unique opportunity to explore the musical universe of the Middle Ages through listening, source analysis and critical reflection. 

Katarina Livljanic will also dialogue with the audience interested in asking questions and/or soliciting answers to curiosities and doubts regarding the theme of the meeting.
