"Together." Concerto for Saxophone, Cello, and Piano

"Together." Concerto for Saxophone, Cello, and Piano

Gloria Campaner, piano Meden Lan, saxophone Francesco Angelico, cello Music by Sollima, Boulanger, Piazzolla, Tansman, Mendicino, Stokovac.

The program unfolds along a path that intertwines the memory of tradition with contemporary invention, combining diverse stylistic languages—from reworkings of folklore to neoclassical writing, to tango revisited in a cultured key—and culminates in the creativity of the new generations.

Giovanni Sollima's Pizzica Roots is a personal and physical reinvention of the Apulian folk dance: the cello becomes a primitive and percussive voice, between groove and lyricism.

Nadia Boulanger's Trois pièces reveal, in three elegant miniatures, a refined balance between Romantic expression and French formal clarity.

Le Grand Tango, written by Piazzolla for Rostropovich, brings the intensity and sensuality of tango nuevo to the concert stage, with great rhythmic force and virtuosity.

Alexandre Tansman's Sonatina for saxophone and piano, with its brilliant, neoclassical character, enhances the instrument's singability and color.

Piazzolla's Tango Étude No. 1 for solo saxophone is a pure example of his style, where melody, rhythm and improvisation blend in a solitary and incisive voice.

The program will close with two trios composed specifically by Emanuele Stokovac and Matteo Mendicino, students of Maestro Pagotto's Composition Class, who enrich the program with new and personal perspectives on making music today.
