The Tender Narrator – Contemporary Polish Women Writers in Slovenian Translations

An exhibition on the literary creativity of Polish female writers who have shaped Polish literature and culture over the 25 years. Their major works are available in Slovenian translations, which are the result of vibrant Polish-Slovenian connections and continuous translation efforts.

The exhibition showcases the literary creativity of female authors who have left a significant mark on contemporary Polish literature, including two Nobel Prize laureates, Olga Tokarczuk and Wisława Szymborska. The main works of the featured authors – prose writers Hanna Krall, Ida Fink, Agata Tuszyńska, Olga Tokarczuk, Magdalena Tulli, Joanna Bator, prose writer and playwright Dorota Masłowska, and poets Wisława Szymborska, Anna Świrszczyńska, Marzanna Bogumiła Kielar, Justyna Bargielska, and Bronka Nowicka – are available in Slovenian translations. These translations are the result of vibrant Polish-Slovenian literary connections and continuous translation efforts. Fragments of the authors' works are also presented in a short poetic film, created by young collaborators of the SOOS film team.
