“Song: the soul of Europe without borders” - Contemporary composers from Julian, Friuli, Slovenia and Scandinavia

“Song: the soul of Europe without borders” - Contemporary composers from Julian, Friuli, Slovenia and Scandinavia

The project includes the realization of three concerts in Gorizia, Nova Gorica and Trieste in October 2025 and aims to promote the knowledge of important composers from the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and neighboring Slovenia, also broadening the gaze to some Scandinavian musicians who are particularly significant in the choral repertoire, whose specific compositions integrate perfectly with those of musicians from the Julian, Isonzo, Friulian and Slovenian territories.

The project was conceived to be carried out within the framework of the events “Gorizia–Nova Gorica European Capital of Culture 2025”, and aims to promote knowledge of important composers from the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and neighboring Slovenia, also broadening the scope to include some Scandinavian musicians who are particularly significant in the choral repertoire, whose specific compositions integrate perfectly with those of musicians from the Julian, Isonzo, Friulian and Slovenian territories.

We deeply believe that music unites people and that it knows no barriers of nationality or ethnicity, but involves everyone in a superior expression, managing to put in tune even very different people and groups.

In today's society the absence of a true and real education in music determines a serious cultural void in "giving voice" to the human soul; hence the importance of promoting and rediscovering the extraordinary effectiveness of this artistic language in expressing in every context the interiority of every individual and of every people.

Music is in fact an art that, over the centuries and generations, has undergone changes in language and in its understanding, in step with the changes in society, to the point of becoming an expression of it, with greater effectiveness than other arts.

Therefore it would be important and fundamental to find valid and profound contents through that language that knows no cultural and ideological barriers such as that of music.

Particularly significant, especially in the historical period we are living in, is what was expressed by the composer Paul Hindemith (1895-1963) who used to say: "Peoples who make music together cannot be enemies."
