ŠANT: transitional environments

ŠANT: transitional environments

In the workshop, we will explore evolving technologies – from the practices of ancient traditions to contemporary approaches. By combining traditional principles with new techniques, we will create speculative tools for ecosystem interventions, which we will further develop and test in the field in future workshops – in both wild and urban ecosystems.

Periods of transition and the search for new balances between social and natural orders create space for diversity. What potential lies within the transitional environments and in-between spaces where it emerges?

During the workshop, we will explore transforming technologies – from the practices of ancient traditions to contemporary approaches. By combining traditional principles with new techniques, we will design speculative tools for ecosystemic interventions, which we will further develop and test in future workshops – within both wild and urban ecosystems.

Our reflections will begin with the karst communities of beings inhabiting forests, sinkholes, underground habitats, and ritual sites connected to old-belief heritage. We will engage with the thermal profiles of the landscape and create tools for their perception and exploration.

The workshop encourages the empowerment of individuals to proactively engage with the technosphere and its mythologies, while seeking new forms of sensitivity toward the environments in which we live and move.
