èStoria 2026 – 22nd International History Festival

èStoria 2026 22nd edition of the International History Festival Theme: "Religions" Gorizia, 28–31 May 2026

Since 2005, Gorizia has hosted èStoria - International History Festival, the largest Italian event dedicated to history, in May.

The event aims to be a point of reference for historical and historiographical discussion and debate on the major changes that have marked the course of history, from its origins to the present day. During the Festival, tens of thousands of visitors flock to the city to attend meetings with historians, writers, artists, journalists and leading figures from national and international cultural life, who address relevant topics from past and contemporary history.

Over the years, the Festival has hosted, among others: Alberto Angela, Alessandro Barbero, Zygmunt Bauman, Eva Cantarella, Jared Diamond, Frank Dikötter, Dario Fo, Margherita Hack, Gerhard Hirschfeld, Paul Kennedy, Claudio Magris, Paolo Mieli, David Quammen, Franz Ludwig Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg, Paco Ignacio Taibo II, Vladimir Ilic Tolstoj, Tatiana Yankelevich. 2026 will be the year of “Religions”, a theme that will be explored, as usual, by intertwining history with literature, cinema, music, art, anthropology, psychology, philosophy, economics and other subjects.

The Festival is conceived and organised by Adriano Ossola and the èStoria Cultural Association of Gorizia, under the supervision of an authoritative scientific committee currently chaired by Paolo Mieli.
