e for Europe

e for Europe

In ancient times the name was ad Aquae Gradatae, and walking on the mosaics of the Basilica of Sant'Eufemia with the pelte motifs reproducing the signs of the sea waves on the shoreline, in fact, everything makes sense.

All this except for the fate of the magnificent Byzantine-era ivory bishop's chair from Alexandria, Egypt, which for centuries was the pride of the city and which most people believe to be lost forever.

7:30 PM

The meeting point is at the Basilica of Sant'Eufemia, from where a circular walk of approximately 3.5 km begins, through narrow streets and glimpses of water, crossing the historic heart of Grado, skirting the Isola della Schiusa and finally returning along the Nazario Sauro seafront.

Leading the journey will be Tanja Beinat, who will intertwine stories and landscapes: the Venetian coast and the ancient escapes from the Huns, the pilgrimage to Barbana, the slow descent of the earth and the delicate balance of the lagoon, the challenges of climate change and the resilience of the coastal vegetation.

A journey through memory, nature, and the future, suspended between sea and sky.
