BORDER CREATURES. ISONZO

On the banks of the Isonzo/Soča River, the audience listens, while the voices of an audio documentary interpret the threshold-landscape that looms before them.
Accompanying spectators across the border is an ancient photographic guide that brings to life some of the archaic rites that still survive along the threshold between the human and the wild, represented by the river.
Starting from the mouth, we followed the flow of the water back to its source, through thick woods and narrow Slovenian valleys where we encountered seasonal rites of passage, the pust.
The voices of philosophers and anthropologists interviewed by Andrea Colbacchini create the context within which the images of photographer Ruben Vuaran and the performance led by artist Roberto Zanini are placed.
Different languages are called upon to reinterpret the magical world of the Isonzo/Soča in an attempt to re-enact, through apparitions, disappearances, and liturgies, a connection with the landscape that surrounds us, establishing a more symbiotic and less exclusively economic/functional relationship.
