The Valle Cavanata Regional Nature Reserve is situated on the eastern side of the Grado Lagoon and is easily accessible from the town via a breathtaking bicycle path.
This internationally significant area, once used as a fishing valley, is a true paradise for birdwatching. It features a variety of habitats, including salt marshes, hygrophilous woodlands, and beaches, providing optimal conditions for birds to rest and nest.

Four routes allow visitors to explore some of the most scenic environments of the Valle Cavanata Nature Reserve: Bosco Averto trail, ideal for cycling Visitor Centre trail, a short walking route with observation points Sea trail, through the lagoon, embankments and coastal views Valley trail, running alongside the historic fishing valley The Pagoda and the Sabbia wildlife observation hide are freely accessible and offer excellent vantage points for wildlife observation.
