Modeano is a small farming village on the western edge of the Friulian Riviera, halfway between Venice and Trieste, where the tradition of viticulture dates back to Roman times. Wine production then flourished in the early 20th century, when Norberto Marzotto reorganized the estate, transforming it into a model winery.
In May 2023, a new chapter began: Luca and Andrea Cisorio enthusiastically took over the management of the historic winery, preserving the legacy of the past while embracing a contemporary vision. Today, the Ca Modeano winery is situated next to the ancient villa and adjacent farmhouses, which have been carefully restored and are nestled within a park of centuries-old trees, housing offices, tasting rooms, and a wine shop.
The estate’s vineyards cover approximately 32 hectares and surround the property, rooted in firm yet well-drained soil. The climate, among the driest in Friuli and tempered by the Adriatic breezes, favors the production of quality wines with a bold character. The vines, trained using the Guyot and Silvoz methods, grow in orderly rows, allowing light and air to flow freely through the rows.
Respect for the environment is a fundamental principle: the vineyard is managed according to the criteria of SQNPI-certified integrated production, without the use of herbicides, in harmony with nature, which is evident here in the presence of wildlife. The estate also achieves carbon neutrality thanks to its forests, hedgerows, and a large solar power system.
In the cellar, winemaking is carried out with care and sensitivity, respecting natural timelines and under the expert guidance of winemaker Andrea Romano Rossi, to best express the characteristics of the grapes.
To complete the experience, Ristoro Ca Modeano welcomes guests for wine tastings paired with typical Friulian products, in an authentic and relaxed atmosphere, which can also be enjoyed in the inner park during the warmer months, alongside monumental magnolia trees.
