Events in June

We’re nearly halfway there!

We’re nearly halfway there! So far, we have opened Slovenia’s first tactile gallery, honoured the Staroverci with an ethnological collection at the Vogrsko Manor, unveiled a lasting tribute to energy production at the Doblar Hydroelectric Power Plant, and tomorrow the exhibition on Invisible Nova Gorica opens at the Eda center and Mediterranea 20 – Biennial of Young Artists begins. In May, the third exhibition dedicated to painter and printmaker Zoran Mušič was opened – his works are now on display at Štanjel Castle, Dobrovo Castle and the Attems Petzenstein Palace in Gorizia. A sound installation at Rihemberk Castle invites you to listen to bats and other nocturnal sounds, and with the Symfo app in Rafut Park you can hear something truly original. Every day in our communications office in Nova Gorica, we welcome culture-hungry tourists and an engaged local audience – thank you to everyone co-creating this unique twin-city, the first ever cross-border European Capital of Culture!

On 4 June, we continue the series of events in the Ingeborg Bachmann Dome, located in the sunken square of the new underpass at Nova Gorica Railway Station. The event will feature artists Anna Baar and Andrea K. Schlehwein. The Marco Cavallo tour begins on Saturday 8 June, setting off from Dutovlje and travelling to Ljubljana, Maribor, Hrastovec, Trate, and arriving in Nova Gorica and Gorizia on 13 June. Meanwhile, Kino Basaglia continues its screenings at the Kino Otok – Isola Cinema Film Festival in Izola (4–8 June). On 19 and 21 June, we look forward to a grand staging of Rossini’s Journey to Reims, which will transform Europe Square into a grand stage. The Textile Art Biennial also begins, arriving from Kranj in Nova Gorica on 20 June and in Gorizia on 21 June. To close out the month, from 29 June to 1 July, the twin city will host a festival celebrating contemporary clowning and new circus arts.
