Vitovlje Chestnut Festival

Vitovlje will host Sašo Avsenik Ensemble, Skater Group and Mladi Gamsi!

Vitovlje is home to the indigenous chestnut variety, the Vitov maron, which was the basis for the start of the Chestnut Festival. The Festival was first organised in 1997 as a one-day event. Due to the positive response from visitors, the event was extended to two days. The event takes place every third weekend in October, when the chestnut season is at its peak.

Programme:

Saturday, 19 October, from 8 p.m.: party with the Sašo Avsenik Ensemble and Skater band.

Sunday, 20 October, from 2 p.m.:

• the cuisine of Vitovlje: presentation of homemade chestnut dishes with masterchef contestant Saša Košuta,
• lucky draw with rich prizes,
• exhibition of numerous chestnut varieties,
• exhibition and raffle of pastries prepared by housewives from Vitovlje,
• the Chestnut Games: a competition between neighbouring tourist associations,
• children's play Žabica Brokolina in polž Sladkosned performed by Miškino gledališče,
• party with Mladi Gamsi.
