Three glances

Three masters of contemporary photography – Steve McCurry, Alex Majoli, and Meta Krese – chronicle the Italian-Slovenian border and the cities of Gorizia and Nova Gorica through their previously unpublished reportages.

Three leading figures in contemporary photography will chronicle the Italian-Slovenian border and the cities of Gorizia and Nova Gorica through three exclusive reportages, which will be turned into a major exhibition at Casa Morassi (Borgo Castello, Gorizia) from October 25, 2025, to January 18, 2026. The exhibition is part of the celebrations for the European Capital of Culture, a title shared for the first time by two border cities.

Steve McCurry (United States), Alex Majoli (Italy), and Meta Krese (Slovenia) will be the exceptional visual witnesses of three personal journeys through the territory, exploring through their lenses the relationships between the two peoples, their shared history and their differences, collective and individual memories, identities, conflicts, and the vision of a possible future based on peace and brotherhood.

The project is curated by the CRAF – Center for Research and Archiving of Photography and is supported by the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia (FVG) in collaboration with the Regional Agency for Cultural Heritage of the FVG Region (Erpac).
