The Balkan Migration Route

On 19 November 2025, at 18:00, you are invited to a discussion on the role of Nova Gorica in the Balkan migration route.

Evening panel discussion and video exhibition

The Balkans migrant route is one of the most important migration corridors in Europe, running from Turkey to Italy. Jure Gombač and Lucija Klun, researchers in the field of migration studies, and Francesca De Piccoli, a volunteer From Gorizia, will talk about life on the move and the role that Nova Gorica plays in the Balkans migrant route. The talk will be accompanied by a video exhibition that was created as part of the Route Biographies project. The discussion will be moderated by Nataša Rogelja Caf.

 Participants:

  • Jure Gombač, migration researcher (ZRC SAZU),
  • Lucija Klun, migration researcher (University of Bologna),
  • Francesca De Piccoli, volunteer,
  • Nataša Rogelja Caf, anthropologist (ZRC SAZU).

The discussion will be held in Slovenian and Italian with simultaneous interpretation.
