Slovenian Film Festival in Italy – Sarajevo Safari in Gorizia

Cinephilia is a beam of light that pierces the darkness of the theater and unites friends and strangers in the same story.

At the cross-border crossroads where history and everyday life intertwine, the Slovenian Film Festival in Italy has been creating a space for encounters between two cultures for years: contemporary Slovenian films cross languages, enriched with Italian subtitles. The program features recent works, including productions that won awards at the Slovenian Film Festival.

Each screening allows you to see the world from a slightly different perspective than usual. For the first time, the documentary Sarajevo Safari, with Italian subtitles, by director Miran Zupanič, is coming to Italian cinemas. It brings to light one of the most shocking and untold stories of the siege of Sarajevo between 1992 and 1996: the existence of a mysterious group of wealthy foreigners who paid for the chance to shoot the citizens of the besieged city.

The film will have its Italian premiere on March 25, 2026, in Pordenone as part of the Pordenone Docs Fest festival. In Gorizia, the film will be screened on April 14, 2026, at 8:00 PM at the Palazzo del Cinema, with the director in attendance. A repeat screening will take place on April 16, 2026, at 5:30 PM at the Palazzo del Cinema in Gorizia.

Entrance fee: 6 euros.

The film's promotion in Italy is being carried out in collaboration with the OpenDDB platform. The festival, organized by Kinoatelje in collaboration with the Government Office of the Republic of Slovenia for Slovenians Abroad and Abroad, the Slovenian Film Centre, and the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Region, renews its commitment to connecting audiences, promoting intercultural dialogue, and supporting the dissemination of contemporary Slovenian cinema internationally in 2026.
