Premiere of the Documentary Film “Svilena prihodnost”

The museum's Tuesday evening will feature a screening of the documentary Silk Future , produced by RTV Slovenia, which discusses the history of silk and its contemporary development.

The film presents the extraordinary 4,000-year story of silk and sheds light on the tradition of sericulture in the Goriška region, where mulberries still bear witness to this activity today.

The film then shows modern initiatives to revive sericulture, based on the cooperation of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Ljubljana, the Institute in Padua and the Faculty of Agriculture and Biosystems Sciences in Maribor. Special attention is paid to the entire development process of the silkworm - from eggs to cocoons.

The documentary also raises the question of the future use of silk thread, beyond its traditional textile and lace uses. The film, which will be screened before the television premiere, was created by Magda Lapajne (script and direction), Andrej Hefferle (director of photography), Aldo Kumar (music) and Janez J. Kovačič (production).

Admission is free.
