PIPIN: TIME FOR A HERO Youth Musical

PIPIN: TIME FOR A HERO Youth Musical

O'Klapa is preparing its most ambitious project yet – the musical Pippin: Time for a Hero. In it, the actors will combine acting, singing and live dancing, with the support of professional mentors: a choreographer, a singing teacher and a director.

The novelty of the project is that the production is entirely led by young members of the group (up to 35 years old), who take care of both the creative and organizational parts: scenography, management of social networks, technical coordination, etc. The musical will be equipped with Italian subtitles, as the group also wants to address a wider, cross-border audience and school groups in Friuli-Venezia Giulia.

The story follows Pippin, the son of Charlemagne, as he searches for meaning in life and his own identity. He tries various paths – from military glory to political power – but none bring him fulfillment. He is guided along his journey by a mysterious group of traveling actors, led by the Master of the Show. When Pippin finds himself tempted by the “perfect moment”, he decides to live a simple, authentic life and have the freedom to choose for himself.

Themes of the musical: the search for identity, social pressures, doubt, freedom of choice, the illusion of grandeur, and the relationship between art and reality.
