Open-Air Cinema: Cross-Border Summer with Cinema Isonzo and Silvan Furlan Arena

The itinerant summer showcase returns to unite Italy and Slovenia through the art of filmmaking, bringing open-air screenings to the squares and scenic locations of the cross-border region. A rich program featuring contemporary arthouse films and director talks will liven up summer evenings on both sides of the border.

Strengthened by the milestones of the GO! 2025 European Capital of Culture initiative, this cross-border project lights up outdoor screens to offer communities a shared, high-quality cultural experience.

The seasonal calendar spans the traditional stops and newly introduced venues of "Cinema Isonzo - Kino Soča," leading up to the flagship open-air events at Nova Gorica's "Silvan Furlan" Arena and the specialized screenings during Gorizia's Sergio Amidei Award.

By presenting a curated selection of contemporary feature films and documentaries from Italian and Slovenian filmmakers, the showcase serves as a vital tool for institutional dialogue and local identity preservation.

This screening network actively transcends geographical borders, turning the shared territory into a unified cultural stage that fosters long-term European integration and regional cooperation.
