Three Quarters of the Sun is a 1959 Slovenian black-and-white film directed by Jože Babič, shot mainly in Gorizia and the surrounding area. Set in May 1945 in the fictional Czech village of Mosty, the story follows a group of former camp prisoners returning home by train. “I am a great supporter of poetic expression, even when making realist films,” said the director. “There’s always a poetic element in my work, but it’s often overshadowed by my urge for social critique.”
